HUMANE SOCIETY

3416SNIP-ed and Counting... preventing 17080 potential strays!

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - JANUARY 16th, 2018

Thank you so much for your interest in SNIP!

2017 was a groundbreaking year for the Sullivan County Humane Society -- We spayed and neutered over 1200 animals resulting in an extended impact of over 127,584 animals saved in the Sullivan County area. These are animals that will never know what a shelter kennel feels like, the misery of having rabies, or the sadness of being left out in the cold, starving and alone.

Due to the overwhelming success of SNIP, our Veterinary partners are bursting at the seams with SNIP surgeries -- Our partner clinics are booked up until April with SNIP appointments.

All that being said, there are costs associated with SNIP, and now is the time for the Sullivan County Humane Society to turn an eye towards funding and more specifically fundraising. We are so thankful for the many, many generous donations we received around the Holidays and the Day of Giving -- We raised over $1,000! If you donated, thank you! There is still a lot of work to get done for us to continue running our program at "full bore" which is, personally, the only option I believe in.

We will be suspending the SNIP voucher process for 90 days -- This is in order for us to institute a capital campaign, give the vets time to get caught up, and for us to launch a new state-of-the-art application process right here on our website. This means we will begin re-issuing certificates on MAY 1ST, 2018.

Want to help? Great! We're launching a new membership program that costs only $35 dollars, lasts for a year, and gets you first-in-line access to event tickets, a fashionable tee-shirt, and the peace of mind knowing that you're helping save the lives of companion animals.

We're also happy to announce that we're going to be hosting a large gala fundraiser on October 6th, 2018 with a theme of the roaring twenties. The name for this event will be, "The Great Catsby" -- Cute, right?

In the meantime, if you are in an emergency situation and need assistance with an animal alteration immediately, we suggest contacting Margaret Mitchell Spay Clinic at (276) - 591 -5790.

Thank you so much for your support!

Sincerely,

T. Andrew Bledsoe

President, Sullivan County Humane Society
