The Sullivan County Humane Society is funded solely by donations from members in the community and corporate sponsors. We receive no local, state, or federal tax monies. Donations go towards our low/cost spay neuter program SNIP, humane education efforts, and adoption promotions in partnership with SBK Animal Centers in Kingsport and Blountville. SCHS is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization and all donations are 100% tax deductible.

Pet of the Week

Meet Dreah!  Dreah is a 7 1/2 yo spayed Pit Bull mix available for adoption at the SBK Animal Center in Kingsport.  Anyone who knows bully breeds knows that they are love-a-bull, kiss-a-bull, and hug-a-bull!  Dreah is no exception.  She is a shelter "orphan", as her family was moving and couldn't take her.  She is housebroken and loves kids.  Stop by the shelter located at 2141 Idle Hour Rd. to meet Dreah
and all the adoptable animals.  Don't shop; ADOPT!  Shelter animals make the best pets!

Volunteers Needed for
Racks-by-the Tracks 2014

"Racks by the Tracks" is a Ribs, Beer Tasting, & Music Festival held in Downtown Kingsport. For the past 3 years, the festival has made a generous donation to our SNIP program in exchange for our volunteers assisting at the festival. The Sullivan County Humane Society has been asked to participate again this year and will be one of the main benefactors of the festival. This festival is huge and this terrific opportunity to raise money is vital to funding low cost spay/neuters. Sign-up, encourage your friends sign-up and come have some fun!

Volunteers are needed from 12:00 to 8:00PM. We've divided the time into 3 shifts, please feel free to sign up for multiple shifts if possible! Some of the volunteer opportunities include serving beverages, working the event gates, cooler checks, selling/taking tickets, checking I.D.'s and monitoring the children's area. All volunteers will receive a one-of-a-kind volunteer T-shirt! After your shift, hang around to enjoy the great music.

Wear comfortable shoes and bring a hat and sunscreen because some positions are outdoors.

VOLUNTEERS MUST BE 18 YEARS OR OLDER TO SERVE ALCOHOL

DATE:
5/17/2014 (Sat.)

LOCATION: Kingsport Farmers' Market

Petsmart Adoption Events

Volunteers from the Sullivan County Humane Society help with adoption events at Petsmart in Kingsport every Saturday from 12-4PM.  Several animals from the SBK Animal Center in Kingsport will be available for adoption at the event.

Looking for a pet?  Stop by the event and meet some of the animals currently at the shelter who are looking for their forever home.

Interested in Volunteering?  Contact Mindy Frazier at
rnmin5@gmail.com for more information.  Volunteer training is required.  Please read this volunteer guide and schedule a time with Mindy to complete the video training prior to helping with this event.

NOTE: Petsmart Adoption Events are subject to volunteer availability.  While events are scheduled every week, unforseen circumstances may prevent an event.  If you're a prospective adopter, we encourage you to stop by Petsmart and check to see if the event is happening.  If animals are not at Petsmart, we encourage you to visit the SBK Animal Centers in Kingsport at 2141 Idle Hour Road, and in Blountville at 380 Massengill Road.
