The Sullivan County Humane Society is funded solely by donations from members in the community and corporate sponsors. We receive no local, state, or federal tax monies. Donations go towards our low/cost spay neuter program SNIP, humane education efforts, and adoption promotions in partnership with SBK Animal Centers in Kingsport and Blountville. SCHS is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization and all donations are 100% tax deductible.

Pet of the Week

Meet Gus! Gus is a 1 year old neutered male Treeing Walker Coonhound available for adoption at the SBK Animal Center in Kingsport.  Gus found his way to the shelter when his owner had to move and was unable to take him with her.  She was heartbroken, as was Gus.  Gus's mom told the shelter that he is a great indoor dog.  He is housebroken and knows many commands.  He is friendly with dogs and cats alike.  Adoption fees cover spay/neuter, microchip, vaccinations and one month's complimentary pet insurance. Stop by the shelter on Idle Hour Rd. to  meet Gus and all the adoptable animals.  Shelter animals make the best pets!

Racks by the Tracks Festival 2013

Calling all Volunteers to "Racks by the Tracks Festival - BBQ, Craft Beer Tasting & Music Festival" (www.racksbythetracks.com)

Where: Kingsport Farmers Market (Center St. & Clinchfield, Downtown Kingsport)

When: Saturday, May 18 Noon to 8:00PM

Description: "Racks by the Tracks" is a Ribs, Beer Tasting & Music Festival held in Downtown Kingsport.  For the past 2 years, teh festival has made a generous donation to our SNIP program in exchange for our volunteers assisting at the festival.  The Sullivan County Humane Society has been asked to participate again this year and will be one of the main benefactors of the festival.  This festival is huge and this terrific opportunity to raise money is vital to funding low-cost spay/neuters.  Sign-up, encourage your friends to sign-up and come have some fun!

Volunteers are needed from Noon to 8:00PM. We've divided the time into two shifts, please feel free to sign up for both shifts if possible!  Some of the volunteer opportunities include serving beverages, working the event gates, cooler checks, selling/taking tickets, checking I.D.’s and monitoring the children’s area.  As a perk, volunteers will receive admission to the festival and a one-of-a-kind volunteer T-shirt!  After your shift, hang around to enjoy the great music.

Wear comfortable shoes and bring a hat and sunscreen because some positions are outdoors.

VOLUNTEERS MUST BE 18 YEARS OR OLDER TO SERVE ALCOHOL.
